Junior Western Districts
** This opportunity is open to any 7th grade band student entering the 8th grade and is a "student in good standing".
The Junior District Festival consists of five different ensembles:
Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Treble Chorus (for girls),
and Male Chorus (for boys).
Students from the four western counties of Massachusetts
audition every year in December to participate in these groups.
If accepted, they perform challenging music under an acclaimed conductor at a gala concert in March.
It's a very high honor to be accepted and is a great music making opportunity.
For the auditions, students are required to perform a solo piece for their instrument, major and chromatic scales, and a short sight reading example.
For other district information please refer to the following website:
www.mmeawd.org
You may order the audition pieces from:
Gerry's Music Shop, South Hadley MA (413) 534-7402
