Ready. Respectful. Responsible.

Expectations:

  •     Be on time and prepared.

  •     Be responsible and respectable.

  •     Use a pencil.

  •     Be actively engaged in the journey of making music.

Your grade is based on:

  •     Attendance.

  •     Preparation and knowledge of assignments/evaluations/performances.

  •     Conduct, contribution and participation.

Materials Needed:

  • Working instrument – reeds, oil, clothes, neck strap, etc.

  • A ½” 3-ring view binder with a:

      - few sheets of loose leaf paper to start.
      - cover with your name/team/grade. Be as artistic as you would like.

The Band Room (Instrument Storage Room & Auditorium included):
-    Is our space in which we work. It is our common space. Treat it with respect and responsibility so we may have efficient rehearsal and class time in it.
-    Leave it ready at the end of rehearsal for the next rehearsal. As my mother always said – “Leave it better than you find it.”

** Percussionists:
-    Please take care of our (your) equipment. Consider it your personal equipment for the time that you are in Band at HMS.
-    You will be held accountable for any damage done to the instruments, other than normal wear.
-    Make sure all equipment is put away in its proper place and covered after each class/rehearsal.
-    I strongly recommend that all percussionists have their own stick bag for sticks, mallets and small equipment.
* Check with our participating music shops for more information.

Extra Help
-    Band music, assignments, instrument repair, districts preparation, etc.
-    Please schedule the preferred day and time with me, at least, one day before.

Instrument Repairs
-    Please come to me with the problem before the start of rehearsal or class.
-    I will most likely be able to fix it. If I am unable to fix it, I will fill
out a repair form, which will need to be given to your parent/guardian that explains the problem(s) and the next steps to take in order to get the instrument fixed.
-    This process should be done as quickly as possible to not miss precious rehearsal and class time.
